The William Tennent House Association is a non-profit group that is working to restore a historical building in Pennsylvania. They needed a website that would allow them to share news and events and accept donations.
Overall this is a pretty basic WordPress site with some custom post types and some custom code used to extend the functionality of free plugins. Most notably, I extend the Give WP plugin to allow me to add additional fields to forms and display custom data in the admin. I also built my own plugin to handle adding the board members grid for the home page. I figured I may need to re-use this plugin across other sites someday, so it made sense to make it a plugin.
Some other features implemented here are 2fa and other security monitoring, Google Analytics, email integration with Microsoft Office and setting up a YouTube channel. I also occasionally help with their Facebook page.
Being one of the first sites I ever built, it was in serious need of a redesign, which I completed in April of 2024. All of the work I do on this site is a donation to the WTHA, so I do what I can when I can. But, as a non-profit in 2024, it’s very important to have a good looking, functional and secure website to help them on their mission.
